Experts say that Pitti Uomo is to men's fashion what the Cannes Film Festival or Venice Film Festival is to cinema, and this year I saw it firsthand.
And the fact is, Pitti Uomo, which
turns 30 in its 96th issue this summer, is not just a fashion show; It is the
ultimate expression of what we call lifestyle, quality street style and a
tribute to the most modern art.
It is a flagship event in men's
fashion, which they define as "the most important platform in the world of
men's fashion and accessories."
Pitti Uomo concentrates all the values
of male and modern lifestyle, with a clear vision of the future and a line
marked by modernity and the most modern art.

Catwalks that dictate trends and a
street full of gentlemen who judge what is worth and what is not. Designers,
retailers, buyers, artists and fashionistas who come to Florence to see and
show themselves.
With so much information (and
inspiration), what should we look for?
Here's my pick.

MSGM
Founded in 2009 by Massimo Giorgetti,
the brand has returned to Florence to celebrate Pitti's special anniversary to
celebrate its first decade.
This brand of Milanese origin is
characterized by a free spirit and a combination of colors and textures.
MSGM has always used Cubist or
contemporary art as inspiration, such as Hockney (for the use of blue) or John
McCracken's minimalist tones.
These characteristics are again present
in this new season. Acid yellow, green that takes you to the jungle, or peach
orange are colors from the palette MSGM is using for its new season. Suits or
jackets stand out in more neutral colors.

RUBY OF THE LAW
Sterling Ruby is an American
artist known for the versatility of his work spanning painting, ceramics, collage,
video and photography, sculpture and installations.
He first debuted as a
designer and did so in this issue of Pitti Uomo with the SR STUDIO brand. THE.
AC Creators like Raf Simons or Virgil Abloh made their debut supporting the
artist turned designer.
The collection is divided
into four mini-collections: main line, ED. 50 is a spinning limited-edition
line of 50, SOTO is a garment made from handcrafted fabric by Ruby's atelier,
and UNIQUE is one-of-a-kind made by Ruby.
The result: very avant-garde
and promising, though perhaps too hot.
Sterling Ruby officially
presented its collection at the Pitti Uomo exhibition, presenting it at an
event in Florence. Appointed S. STUDY. THE. California, Ruby's debut show
featured fashion celebrities including Raf Simons and Virgil Abloh, who showed
their support for the artist-turned-designer.
The collection itself is
divided into four mini-collections: the main line, ED. 50 is a spinning limited
edition line of 50 pieces, SOTO is handcrafted by Ruby, and UNIQUE is
one-of-a-kind Ruby.
The event, held at La
Pagliere, which used to store hay for cattle, was a great, albeit sweaty,
contrast to the clothes. As you would expect from Ruby, the patterns were the
star of the show, used consistently, similar to the artist's collaboration with
Raf Simons.
CHANNELS
Canali has once again chosen
the Florentine setting to present its Spring / Summer 2020 collection. Inside
the historic Palazzo Ximènes, the production tells the story of a quiet and
intimate Italian summer that takes place in the privacy of a home surrounded by
greenery. The collection interprets an informal setting with a sophisticated
modern touch: bespoke ultralight apparel alternating with light Sahara suits,
jacquard fabrics with geometric fabrics paired with drawstring trousers and
Bermuda shorts. Natural fabrics such as a blend of linen and pure cotton take
on soft silhouettes and define a style that combines summer season with an
elegant and casual style.
Canali has chosen the stage
in Florence again to present its Spring / Summer 2020 collection on the
occasion of the 30th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo. Inside the historic
Palazzo Ximènes, the production tells the story of a quiet and intimate Italian
summer that takes place in the quiet of a house surrounded by greenery. The
collection interprets an informal setting with a touch of sophisticated
modernity: ultra-light garments alternate with light Saharan suits, jacquard
fabrics with geometric fabrics paired with drawstring trousers and Bermuda
shorts. Natural fabrics such as linen, cottons and pure cottons combine soft
silhouettes to define a style that blends summer season with elegant
casualness.
